What happens when the Cologne way of life meets cutting-edge web technology? We had the pleasure of developing a digital highlight for our client apiro Entertainment’s award-winning comedy musical “Himmel und Kölle”. The aim: to extend the magic of the stage for the audience whilst simultaneously gathering valuable first-party data for marketing purposes.

Emotional entertainment meets data strategy

“Himmel und Kölle” delights around 400 guests several days a week at the Volksbühne am Rudolfplatz. apiro Entertainment was looking for a way not only to entertain the audience during the show, but also to engage them off-stage and build a lasting digital connection.

The core task was to create a solution that maximises the fun factor for visitors whilst enabling targeted, GDPR-compliant lead generation. And all without the hurdle of having to install an app.

Our photo web app, SnapCube GO, offers the perfect solution here, seamlessly combining the best of both worlds:

For visitors: An exclusive photo in the ‘Himmel und Kölle’ style. Musical-goers can choose from five photo filters to pose against the show’s iconic backdrops or alongside the cast. No download required – simply scan the QR code on the screen and guests are right in the thick of the action.

For apiro Entertainment: An integrated, streamlined registration form. To maximise the incentive to register, an attractive prize draw was incorporated directly into the workflow.

Incentives and automated communication

Participants had the chance to win instant prizes in the form of musical tickets, as well as the spectacular grand prize – a trip to New York to see a Broadway show. Winners were notified immediately by email in the brand’s distinctive style, whilst the collected data was provided to the client securely and in a structured format as a CSV export.

Measurable results: a resounding success

With a conversion rate of over 80%, the project impressively demonstrates that users are happy to share their data when the overall package combines playful added value (photo) with a genuine incentive to win.
